Humble Beginnings

Goldstar Couriers began in the northeast of England in 1982. Goldstar is the longest operating independent courier company in the north of England. It started as a family business and remains independently owned today.

Goldstar clients began asking for their records to not only be delivered, but to also be stored, and so the courier warehouse was also used for record storage. Clients soon realized that stacking these archival boxes neatly on shelves was the safest and most efficient means of storage.

In December 1991, DataSafe Storage Limited was born as a result.

In 2001, on the outskirts of Newcastle, DataSafe built the first "purpose built" records management facility in the United Kingdom. The building was designed as both a hard copy paper and media storage facility.

The media vault was created to the highest specifications, with a 4-hour fire rating with temperature and humidity controls and remains the only vault of these specifications within 120 miles. DataSafe has additional vaults in London, the Southwest and Midlands.

DataSafe designed and implemented the highest quality records management software for their clients, and they have continued to improve the design and functionality for the last 17 years.

DataSafe is continually working with clients to evolve its service offerings and has expanded into scanning and imaging services, electronic vaulting and secure on-site destruction.
